Here I will note any new information I have found on my families history, including the dates in which these discoveries were made. This section will also contain things which are not important enough to be included on main pages.
I'd had my suspicions that Craftsman Leslie Williamson served in the Royal Artillery, due to the shape of the cap badge which he is wearing in the photograph, this was confirmed when I found a page on findmypast.co.uk for "Royal Artillery Attestations 1883-1942". Entering Leslie's name, the first result has a matching Service Number. I have not yet purchased the record, but this does confirm that he served in the Royal Artillery before moving to the REME.
I found an image from the Wikipedia article for The Capture of the Caen Canal and Orne River Bridges, of several members of the 2nd Oxf. & Bucks. One member has a very similar appearance to Reginald Percy Tyrer, with several matching features, same distance between eyes, slightly misshapen eyebrow, and general facial features. There was no officially matched name to this man, however, another image taken on the same day includes someone who looks very similar by the name of Lance-Corporal B Lambley.
As well as this, my grandmother and I have finished typing up a digital copy of Lance Corporal Laurie Williamson's diary. I may make individual sections of the diary public, but this is not for sure.
