Used by: Laurie Williamson, my great aunt
The Pattern 1907 Bayonet was designed for the SMLE No.1 Mk.III rifle, the bayonet was 21 and 3/4 inches long (55cm), with the blade being 17 inches long (43cm). This was replaced by the much shorter No.4 Bayonet used for the Lee Enfield No.4, which was a spike style of bayonet. However, any troops issued with the SMLE No.1 Mk.III, even in World War 2, were issued with a 1907 Bayonet.
My great grandad brought his 1907 Bayonet home with him after the war, along with a few other things, and a few years after the war, my great aunt got her hands on it while my grandmother was outside playing. My great aunt decided that she wanted to turn the couch into swiss cheese, and so that is exactly what she did. The couch took several blows, eventually being unusable. Sadly, after this incident, the bayonet was never seen again by my relatives, and they assume it was disposed of in some way.
